Speaker Topic
Our mission is simple but zealous…

We create dream bedrooms for children with life-threatening medical illnesses. This is a place that only the child can dream or imagine while addressing their medical needs. Our focus is answering one question:  Where does a child go when battling a serious illness to find peace and comfort?  Special Spaces was founded in July 2004 on the precedent that children battling life-threatening illnesses need their own special space. This is a place of hope and inspiration, and a special space to find peace and comfort.  As of today, Special Spaces has created hundreds of bedrooms across the country. It is the vision of our organization to have a Special Spaces Director everywhere there is a child in need.

Speaker Bio
Jill Bond has been the Southwest Michigan Director of Special Spaces since April of 2011.  She has a caring heart and a great understanding of each child’s needs. She listens intently as they tell her what they would love to have in their bedroom, and then she does her best to give them exactly what they wish for.  Our chairwoman, Jayme Neumann, says, “I was lucky enough to help her with the last family. Both girls, ages 3 and 7, have Cystic Fibrosis, which is a hereditary chronic lung disease. They were so excited to see their new rooms, it was an overwhelming experience! It was a long day getting the rooms renovated, but well worth every minute when you see their face! It has been a pleasure to help Jill, and I hope to continue assisting her for a long time to come!”
